Vatican museum

This is the Vatican Museum entrance. We got there a half hour before opening and there was a line a block long already, but the line went fast and we got in! We spent four hours looking at displays. The Catholic church would buy art as a culture was destroyed through the ages. Originally, it was for the Pope's living room. But now it is for one of the best museums in the world. So what was once the Popes home is now a museum. The Pope now lives in an apartment at the far ind of the building.

This is one of the hallways. The ceiling is also art. I spent almost the whole time sitting in the Sistine Chapel by Michelangelo. It was so inspirational! But they did not allow you to use your camera.

Something about this stained glass made me take this picture. Mary looks so modern and the baby Jesus so relaxed.

Kay and Marvin on the subway which we use exclusively to get around .... Well that and walking! Marvin and Kay leave tomorrow morning
for home, we will miss them.

This is our shadow waving. We went to Ostia, a town down the river from Rome that is very well preserved from 2,000 years ago. The part below our shadow is a floor mosaic from 2000 years ago.

Here we are in real life.
