The Roman Forum

I know this is sideways ... Sorry! Turn your computer sideways! This is the arch of Titus. It is the arch that the Romans would parade through after a big win hauling gold and silver, slaves and wild exotic animals. One of their wins was Jerusalem in 70 AD. That was the last time the temple was standing. They destroyed it. Jewish slaves built this arch as well as the coliseum.

Here is the Emperor on his chariot.

And here is the menorah candle sticks! Right on the arch, a treasure from the temple. The last time we know the menorah and the ark of the covenant were ever seen was here. The ark held the Ten Commandments. Where did they go from here? Some say they are in Africa!

Karen and Keriann in the Forum. It rained yesterday and today. It felt like Oregon.

This is the prison that Peter spent his last days before he was killed. He was let down here through a hole in the ceiling. Peter was killed not far from where St. Peters Cathedral is today.

This is where the Pope stands when he does communion. I wanted to run up there for a picture, but I might have been put in Peters prison.

We also saw Trevi fountain. A man proposed to a woman here today and she said yes! The crowd cheered!

Tomorrow the Vatican Museum.
Blessings!
